The building is owned and operated by Newcastle City Council and is a meeting point for our growing life science cluster.
It provides growing life science businesses, ambitious entrepreneurs, innovators, and academics the infrastructure and research facilities they need to create and exploit new Intellectual Property.
Built over 5 floors our building is made up of fitted Cat II laboratories, write-up space, grade A offices, conference and meeting space and a social mezzanine.
Facilities and services
Security and back-up generator
We have a Secure 24-hour occupier entrance and our reception is staffed from 8am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday. We have a lettable freezer farm with stand by power and secure cycle storage.
General and specialist cleaning
As well as the general cleaning of the building we have a specialist waste disposal area for tenant use. Shower facilities are also available for occupiers of the building.
Catering, and hospitality
We have bookable IT ready meeting rooms, the team can also support you to host and promote events held at The Biosphere. Our spaces are also available for use by external organisations. Quotes are available on request.
Plug+Go communications
Key features include managed telephony, network and internet service, private, safe, secure network with remote access via VPN. Network security is provided and ready to plug and go with wireless internet throughout the building. You will have shared internet connection and business class Voiceover IP (VoIP) services with handsets provided and direct dial phone numbers available
Network membership and specialist equipment
All new tenants will receive a free 12-month One Nucleus membership, this includes access to their discounted purchasing scheme. Subject to availability, we can also facilitate access to specialist equipment from our local universities.
