Our building is located in the heart of the North East of England’s regional and economic capital – Newcastle. We are surrounded by a £1.5bn life science eco-system on Newcastle Helix, a vibrant 24-acre district that brings together a community of industry leaders, businesses, and top researchers in an internationally renowned innovation community. Newcastle is one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and a popular hot spot for innovative and ambitious life science companies
Top universities
Our city centre is home to both Newcastle University and Northumbria University, with three other universities all within an hours’ drive. Between them they educate more 100,000 students and around half of these study STEM subjects – the highest proportion of any English region. Newcastle University ranks in the world’s top 50 for life sciences research with academic centres of excellence at our five universities in age-related diseases, personalised medicine, and digital healthcare.

Getting here
Getting to and from our city is easy. We have all of the infrastructure you would expect of a major European city that is well-connected by air, rail, and road.
- Newcastle International Airport is only 20 minutes away from our city centre, flying to more than 85 world-wide destinations
- Central station is only a ten-minute walk from The Biosphere, with 40 trains travelling to London every day
- A gateway to the rest of the UK with London, Edinburgh, Leeds, and Manchester all reached in under 3 hours
- The Tyne and Wear Metro is a light rail system which has over 60 stops, will take you to the regions’ major local landmarks. The nearest stop is only a 2-minute walk from The Biosphere.
- City is connected by major roads, including the A1 (M) that connects us to major routes across the UK.

What we offer
High quality chemistry and biology labs, office, and meeting space for new, growing, and established businesses. Our building contains fitted Category II laboratories and write up spaces as well as a co-working and virtual space. We connect businesses to the city’s growing life science cluster and facilitate access to business support, driving innovation, collaboration, and commercialisation within the sector.
